The Remaking of Professor Bobbins: Cedric Saldanha

Retired economics professor Alex Bobbins thought his life held no more surprises. Widowed and content in his self-imposed isolation, the world outside his door had faded away—until the unexpected arrival of his vibrant seven-year-old granddaughter, Sarah. Drawn into a life he never imagined, Alex finds his quiet days replaced by a kaleidoscope of new friendships, the tentative stirrings of late-life romance, and a dangerous undercurrent of domestic violence, gambling addiction, and extortion.

The Remaking of Professor Bobbins is a compelling tale of resilience and rediscovery, brimming with warmth, humour, and poignant depth. It’s a story that reminds us that life’s most significant turns can happen when we least expect them.

Through crisp prose and rich emotional depth, the novel charts how Alex, a curmudgeonly academic, rediscovers purpose when tasked with caring for his spirited seven-year-old granddaughter. 1. Jen Martin –

Skillful, humorous and gentle interweaving of social issues as Professor Bobbins cares for and learns from his intelligent, kind granddaughter. We journey with them as they tackle various difficulties. We come to know and connect with both characters in their daily lives. I read this charming novel day and night until i finished it. However i don’t like the title and i really dislike the cover picture. I’d prefer : ‘Renewal : Sarah and The Professor’. Change the photo on the cover.
